Find 2 straight bars that are at least 12” wider than the track width of the car you are measuring. 8’ is usually long enough. These bars can be almost anything as long as they don’t flex. Suggested objects are a 1” square tube or a 2”x4”. 
- Mount 2x string adapters to each bar. It is suggested to space the adapters about 10” wider than the track width of your car.
- Press the lip of the string adapter to the edge of the bar. Use the supplied self-tapping screws to attach the adapter to the bar.
- Compare the spacing of the string adapters by putting the two assemblies next to each other. If the adapter spacing is not the same on both bars, you may loosen an adapter, shift it and tighten it down. The adapters are slotted for this reason.
- Cut two lengths of #18 string (can be found at a local hardware store) to about 24” longer than the car you are measuring.
- Tie a knot at the ends of each string, ensuring the spacing between knots are equal. You may need to do a double knot to ensure the knot will not slip through the string adapter
Once set, put a dab of glue on each knot to make sure they do not come loose.

- Place the bar assemblies on jackstands at each end of the car and run your strings between assemblies.
- Tension the strings by pulling the jackstands apart.
- Adjust the jackstands so the height of the strings are as close as possible to the center of the wheels.
- Repeat the following steps on each end of the car until the measurements are equal side to side:
- Measure the distance of the string to the center cap on both the left and right sides of the car.
- Shift the bar towards the side with a smaller measurement.
- Repeat a-b until the measurements are equal.

- Subtract the rear edge measurement from the front edge measurement to get the toe measurement for that wheel.
