No. These units operate on a millivolt system generated by the fireplace pilot assembly. Do not connect 110-120V household electricity to these switches, as it will damage the gas valve and pose a safety risk.
It is not recommended. The 15-foot wire provided is designed to maintain the specific millivoltage required to trigger the valve. Using longer wire runs can result in a voltage drop, causing the burner to fail to ignite or shut off unexpectedly.
The manual ON/OFF toggle switch located on the burner valve must be in the OFF position for the wall switch or timer to function. If the burner switch is already ON, the wall controls cannot override it to ignite.
